Future Through Education Fund: From Start to Success

On May 6, 2019, in cooperation and with the support of the Government of Malawi represented by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Future Through Education Fund (FTEF) launched an ambitious project aimed at improving the gap in Mathematics and English among the primary school students in Malawi and building the capacity of primary education teachers.MAY 24, 2019
Two primary schools in the capital, Lilongwe, namely Mphungu Primary School in Area 12 and Tsokankanasi Primary School in Area 43, were selected by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as pilot schools for the project.

Two primary schools in the capital, Lilongwe, namely Mphungu Primary School in Area 12 and Tsokankanasi Primary School in Area 43, were selected by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology as pilot schools for the project.
The schools received modern ICT-supported learning laboratories where children could further develop their skills in Mathematics and English. One of the important features of the project was to create a supportive and friendly inclusive environment for the benefit of all children.
Edu-Consulting International Limited, an Israeli developer of ICT-based learning programs for children, contributed to supporting the pilot project by donating its program EduQuest for the laboratories. EduQuest is a computer-based program integrating educational software and manipulatives. The pedagogical experts of Edu-Consulting provided a two-week training to the teachers selected by FTEF and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology who will be trained as future trainers for other teachers of Malawi.

Together with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, FTEF intends to introduce the laboratories with the certified and trained personnel in six divisions of Malawi. The first stage of the nation-wide project will encompass 50 schools from each division that will be selected together with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, allowing thousands of young learners get access to quality education with the use of modern technology.
